ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Gov. Sean Parnell has appointed a Nenana man who has made a living by trapping, hunting, fishing and guiding to the Alaska Board of Game.
Nathan Turner was appointed Monday to the seven-member board in charge of regulating the harvest of game species.
Parnell selected Turner after the Legislature last month failed to confirm Al Barrette of Fairbanks - a trapper and fur tanner - after concerns were raised that he would favor hunters over all other user groups, regardless of scientific data and public sentiment.
Parnell says he's sure that Turner will make a balanced contribution to the board.
Turner will have to be confirmed by the Legislature. |
