Wolf Policy Shows Little Stewardship in Alaska

Letters / Anchorage Daily News / March 26, 2010

The state's decision to spend $100,000 on a video to sell people on murdering wolves from helicopters may be delusional. But at least it's consistent.

We're the only people on the planet who refuse to acknowledge that global warming is killing polar bears. We pretend that Cook Inlet's beluga whales aren't endangered. We believe we're loving, capable, sincere stewards of the Great Land; that Ted Stevens, Bill Sheffield and Frank Murkowski are senior statesmen; and our bridges really do go somewhere.

Since there's no science to support Alaska's wolf control program, a series of Rockwellian images should do nicely. Brilliant! This ought to rehabilitate our credibility.
