State Crossed Line in Wolf Killings

Letters / Juneau Empire / August 6, 2008

Alaska Department of Fish and Game employees have crossed an ethical line.

A few weeks ago the Juneau Empire reported wolf pups slaughtered by paid officials. In all, Fish and Game employees killed 28 wolves on the Alaska Peninsula in June. Of those, 14 pups were shot execution style, at or in their den, after the aerial slaughter of their two lactating mothers. Isn't that illegal? It should be.

There are always people in society who condone killing and others that don't. Which ever side of the coin you're on the state has gone too far. It is unethical and inhumane to shoot lactating mothers busy providing sustenance for their pups. Please join me in voting yes on Aug. 26 for Proposition 2. Vote to end aerial wolf shooting.
