Wildlife Biologists Can be Meal Too

Letters / Anchorage Daily News / August 3, 2008

Re: "Bear brunch features raw moose rump," July 21:

Does being a retired wildlife biologist make you exempt from a bear mauling? The sheer arrogance of Mr. Van Ballenberghe placing himself between the protective fence and the flimsy woven wire is setting a poor example for the public. With the recent human/bear encounters in Alaska with humans losing, this was in poor taste. No matter what Mr. Van Ballenberghe's comfort level is for personal safety, his actions should not be mimicked by others.

As tame as we want to make "Yogi" he will always be wild and unpredictable. Remember "Binky" at the zoo?!
