Governor Palin Has No Vision

Letters / Fairbanks Daily News-Miner / February 10, 2008

To the editor:

Some of you may recognize my name from Friends of Doyon pieces. Today I write to you about our governor. She has no vision, no guts.

I admit, she does things an Alaskan way. She's for predator control. She reinstated revenue sharing. It may be wise to put money away for future use. But I don't think she's looked at ways to develop Alaska, other than the proposed gas line. I've written her office many times, but no responses.

Rural roads aren't a priority for state government. I think that the Elliott Highway should be extended to the town of Tanana. A great way to reduce the cost of living, as well as provide for new opportunities for Yukon River residents. Communities relatively near each other should be linked up as well.

There is a successful boarding school in Galena that could use a lot of future funding. Shishmaref, Kivalina and Newtok could use relocation funding. Palin is a manager, a go-getter, but you can't call her a visionary. With such a large budget surplus, more attention should be given to things other than the gas line. I feel like calling for her resignation, but she still has time.
