Protect Your Dog from Wolves, But Don't Shoot Unless They Attack

Letters / Anchorage Daily News / December 29, 2007

A morning walk with your dog can be enjoyable one minute and full of bloodshed the next. The wolf attacks on dogs in the past month have proven that.

I recommend you not walk your dog when it is dark out. Keeping your dog on a leash is also very important, even in broad daylight. A leash can keep your dog from running off. If you can, I also recommend carrying a gun. You and your dog will then be protected if a wolf decides to attack. Please do not shoot if the wolf is not attacking, for they are alive just as much as you and me. I hope that no more dogs are attacked and that people will follow these precautions.
