ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A pack of wolves responsible for two recent attacks on area dogs may be moving into Anchorage.

A local pilot flying east of Muldoon Road over the tank trail near the Glenn Highway Sunday says he spotted a pack of wolves feeding on what appeared to be a dog.

Fort Richardson officials closed off areas west and north of Artillery Road Saturday following the two attacks.

Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game officials say this is the first they have heard of the wolves so close to Anchorage.

The pilot, who says he will avoid using the area's trail system where he often walks his dog, wanted to warn other trail users and dog walkers of the possibility of a wolf encounter.

The Dept. of Fish and Game and Alaska State Troopers are aware of the situation.
