I am an Alaskan and offended by Gov. Sarah Palin's statement that Outside interests are interfering with Alaska's right to manage its wildlife. I am not an Outside interest; however, I am an intelligent, observant and involved Alaskan. Palin does not represent me or the other thousands of Alaska voters who told the prior administration we did not agree with killing wolves via shooting from an airplane. She can play all the word games she wants; Palin is advocating and financing the spotting, tracking and killing of wolves from an airplane.
Has the Board of Game considered the many diseases that wolves keep at bay? Evidence reflects that wolves control vermin (mice, rats and marmots). If you obliterate a control species, what do you think will occur with vermin and disease? One such disease nearly destroyed Europe, born from fleas and carried by rats and mice.
What is Palin prepared to do several years down the road as hundreds of people are dying because of a disease no one can figure out? Mother Nature has her own way of balancing the books.
The governor's arrogance and that of her Board of Game are not acceptable to voters like me. California Rep. George Miller's involvement is warranted and overdue.
