Killing of Cow Moose

Letters / Fairbanks Daily News-Miner / September 25, 2007

To the editor:

Is the state Fish and Game and the military trying to eliminate hunting in bUnit 20A across the Tanana River?

The local Fish and Game biologist Don Young has done everything he can to kill off all the cow moose, which will end the moose hunt across the river and now he is starting this year in the rest of Unit 20.

First they had hunters shoot moose calves because the wolves and the bears were killing 50 percent of them. Then the department started the cow moose hunt. They let people hunt cow moose knowing the calves with the cows would die of starvation.

By killing one cow moose you eliminate three moose the next spring. So people who like to hunt and eat moose had better take notice of what Don Young is trying to do. He has already shot us in the foot if not higher up.
