Bob Bell, Alaska Board of Game chairman, believes wolverines have no value for wildlife viewers. How absurd. My wife and I have seen two different wolverines in Chugach State Park since moving here last June. Both were in popular areas of the park. I find it hard to believe others haven't also seen them. However, it is not hard to believe that those travelling with dogs, or biologists in noisy airplanes, miss them altogether.
Even if seeing a wolverine is only as likely as winning the lottery, what is a lottery without a winner? It is hard to imagine that one trapper could have taken away both the wolverine sightings we enjoyed so much.
