Fish and Wildlife Seeks Comment on Polar Bear Listing

Anchorage, Alaska -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is asking for public comment on a proposal to list polar bears as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

Officials are planning a hearing from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. tomorrow night at the Z.J. Loussac Library. Verbal comments will be accepted after the presentation.  

Those who cannot make the meeting are encouraged to write letters and hand-deliver them or otherwise e-mail comments on the polar bear. Public comments will be accepted until April 9.
