A Call for Somerville's Removal

Letters / Juneau Empire / November 30, 2006

In response to Patrick Valkenburg's response of Nov. 28 in regard to the proposed resignation of Ron Somerville, champions do fall. The smart ones leave before they are made to fall. In poor taste, Mr. Somerville made a inappropriate comment that offended Native people. As a public official, he should resign. To follow protocol, the person that appointed him needs to remove him and ensure that he resigns. The new governor needs to select a new person to fill his place.
