Alaska Board of Game Vote Reflects Public's Will

Letters / Juneau Empire / November 17, 2006

Over the weekend in Wrangell, the Board of Game voted 6-0 to oppose Proposals 13 and 15, both of which would have opened Swan Cove to brown bear hunting. The unanimous vote clearly reflected the overwhelming public opposition to both proposals and board members commented on just how many letters they received - almost all from Alaska residents.

As a member of the public and a proud Pack Creek employee, I want to thank everyone who took the time to come to meetings and to write letters. Our efforts absolutely paid off. Thank you for your time, energy and effort. When we make our strong and powerful voices heard, the public process really does work. And when the people lead, the leaders really do follow. Thanks again, and I hope to see you all at Pack Creek this summer.
