Somerville Said a Lot About How Little He Knows About Alaska's Natives

Letters / Anchorage Daily News / November 12, 2006

In response to the article about Ron Somerville's comments at the Alaska Game Board meeting ("Somerville apologizes for offending remarks," Nov. 2):

Talking about free beer, how much more bigoted or close-minded can you be against Alaska Natives who are fighting for their cultural and traditional way of life when it comes to hunting. His action and comments at the Game Board meeting show they don't have a chance when they testify for what they believe in. He should resign from the Game Board. Then he came up with a lame excuse and apology about trying to break tension in the meeting. He seems not to realize the importance of our cultural and traditional ways of life.
