Statement by Palin on Protection for McNeil River Bears Encouraging

Letters / Anchorage Daily News / October 24, 2006

On the radio, Sarah Palin provided some insights into her stance on hunting bears adjacent to the McNeil River Sanctuary. Asked by callers about her views on hunting bears on lands adjacent to McNeil River Sanctuary on the "Talk of Alaska" call-in show Oct. 17, she stated that "to protect the McNeil River bears, I would want to make sure that our Game Board wasn't making a decision that allowed killing of those bears that end up in that sanctuary." This offers me encouragement that Alaska's and the world's premiere bear-viewing area would receive the respect it deserves under her tenure as governor.
