To the editor:
After reading Paddy Tatum's response letter to Marty Caress' response letter to Art Greenwalt's response letter, something struck me.
Paddy Tatum simply misunderstood that Caress' reference was simply a response to Greenwalt's letter to the editor.
Mr. Tatum got it all wrong in his letter, and in his attempt to discredit Caress.
I researched what Caress referred to (that being the "Society of Mammalogists") and I believe he was right on target.
Mr. Tatum said Caress "errs in arbitrarily attributing increased birth rates (moose) in the Healy area, etc."
The Healy area is not in Unit 13, and Mr. Caress did not make any reference to this area.
I know Marty Caress personally, and most people in Unit 13 know that he has been an avid snowmachiner in the Broad Pass, Denali Highway, Talkeetna Mountain area for the past 40 years. Mr. Tatum talks of Caress' "spin," lack of facts, and character assassination.
Mr. Tatum clearly needs to upgrade his level of comprehension when it comes to the "facts" in the public arena.
