And Now... a Maggie Letter!

Letters / Anchorage Press / June 18, 2006

Animal activists across the country are mourning the death of Gita the 48-year-old elephant housed in the Los Angeles Zoo. For years, activists have warned the zoo of Gita's death if she were to remain at that facility. Still the zoo did nothing.

Will Maggie suffer the same fate as Gita? I contend that she will as long as she remains in the Alaska Zoo, where she lives in isolation and cramped quarters in a totally inappropriate climate. Please don't let Maggie die a premature death like Gita. Send Maggie to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.
