Alaska Board of Game to Discuss Predator Control

Chris Joy / KYUU / NBC / March 12, 2006

Anchorage, Alaska - Predator control is the focus of the current Alaska Board of Game meeting in Fairbanks. The board is considering 167 proposals for changes to Interior hunting and trapping regulations.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game says the focus on predators is consuming a large part of their wildlife budget at the expense of other animals. Over the past three years, the board has initiated aerial wolf hunting in five parts of the state.

Now residents in other areas are asking for similar programs because of declining moose and caribou
