Fur Rendezvous Fur Auction Creates Bidding Frenzy in Anchorage AK

The annual Fur Rendezvous Fur Auction dates back to the origins of Fur Rendezvous.

Items up for auction include many different types of furs and hides along with horns and antlers. The bidding frenzy can drive prices up with items like a set of moose antlers selling for as much as $1,200.

"Low, low inventory and high demand, and they're higher quality horns this year," said Kent Schumacher, a fur shopper.

    
Those attending the auction say a number of factors are pushing the prices up.
