Think Twice When Moose Hunting in Alaska?
Letters / Fairbanks Daily News-Miner / November 11, 2005

To the Editor:

In September of this year I guided an out-of-moose hunter. He shot a sub-legal moose.

When we got back to town, we both went to Fish and Game and told them all that had happened. We both got ticketed.

I went to my court hearing expecting a fine. But I received a $2,000 fine and a year's probation.

This was my first offense. My record is clean. Needless to say, I was shocked. I did what was right and got penalized.

So I wanted to tell other hunters who have made a mistake such as this to really think about turning yourself in to Fish and Game.
