Show Some Class: Free Maggie

Letters / Anchorage Press / October 1, 2005

The plight of Maggie is not funny, amusing or meant to entertain. We are talking about the life of what should be a magnificent, intelligent and social animal kept in completely unsatisfactory surroundings, isolated from her own species for years! And why? To be a public spectacle for those who can afford the price of a ticket - unacceptable, inexcusable and unforgivable. The population of Anchorage should show some class and insist that Maggie be sent to a sanctuary so that what remains of her shortened life can be spent with people who care.
